ACTION CANCER, SAVING LIVES, SUPPORTING PEOPLE

Action Cancer is delighted to have been nominated as the benefiting charity of the Hillsborough Oyster Festival 2008

As Ciaran O’Neill Chairperson of Action Cancer explains :“This is a very special year for Action Cancer as we celebrate our 35th Anniversary in partnership with the Hillsborough Oyster Festival and as its designated charity for the second year running. The Festival provides us with a unique opportunity to raise awareness of our work, and vital funds to help even more people. Last year was a record fundraising success and the Festival Committee staged a remarkable variety of entertainment that was enthusiastically received by the thousands of visitors.

On average every hour of every day, someone in Northern Ireland receives a cancer diagnosis, resulting in 9,000 new cases annually. There are 40,000 people living with cancer at any one time here. As Northern Ireland’s leading local cancer charity, Action Cancer is committed to saving lives and supporting people. We are extremely grateful to the Hillsborough Oyster Festival committee for this important opportunity to extend our services and help more local people in the future.

Action Cancer needs to raise over £3.8 million each year to support its services. All money is spent in Northern Ireland supporting the community, cancer patients and their families. If you would like more information on our services or how you can help us fundraise or as a volunteer, please call us on 028 9080 3344 or go on-line to www.actioncancer.org

A huge thank you to all supporters at the Hillsborough Oyster Festival and we look forward to seeing you there at some of the events”.
